Discover the Blue Willow Way
‘Believing that every child is a miracle can transform the way we design for children’s care. When we invite a miracle into our lives, we prepare ourselves and the environment around us. We may set out flowers or offerings. We make it our job to create, with reverence and gratitude, a space that’s worthy for a miracle.’
Anita Rui Olds.

Home Is Where The Heart Is
Children need to feel safe and comfortable in their environment in order to thrive and reach their full potential. We are passionate about providing an environment that is warm, homely and inviting. Blue Willow is beautifully furnished throughout, and we have used natural colours to promote a sense of calm and tranquillity. Each child is asked to choose a welcome stone when they arrive, and take it to their key worker to encourage a sense of belonging. Once they have settled in, children are free to move around the nursery as they do in their own home, and play with resources that inspire them.

Learning Through Play

Childcare providers are required to follow the Early Years Foundation Stage framework to support children’s learning and development from the age of birth to 5 years. The framework provides the areas of learning, and milestones children should reach at certain ages.
Children in an early years setting learn through play. To reach their full potential, and make good progress in their learning and development, they must be engaged, interested, and keen to participate in learning opportunities.
The process starts with observations. Our practitioners will observe their key children while they are playing, to find out what interests them. From here, the practitioner will assess what support the child may need, using the framework, and plan activities linked to their interests to support them.
Progress is tracked and recorded in individual learning journals and your welcome to take them home at anytime. Regular updates about your child’s development are provided during handovers, and progress meetings.
We'd love to tell you lots more about our education programme so please get in touch to organise an introduction

Partnership With Parents

  • As parents and carers, we understand that you know your child better than anyone else. We will work in partnership with you to make sure your child is settled, happy, and achieving while they are with us. If we think your child needs specific support in a certain area, their planned next step is shared with you on our planning boards. Suggestions about how to meet this next step is encouraged and welcome.
  • When a child first starts with us, we ask you to tell us about them so they can be correctly supported. You are encouraged to help us complete their initial baseline assessments to give us an idea of what they can already do. During handovers, you have the opportunity share information, and complete wow moment tags to share milestones.
  • Daily dairies are completed each day, that include pictures of what your child has been doing at nursery. Working in partnership with you helps us provide the best care for your child.
